What is the difference between the courts setting aside judgement and vacating judgement, or is it the same?

My freind has a criminal background and has had the court vacate judgement but his background is still coming back with his history he says maybe he should get the court to set aside the verdict? It sounds to me he dont know what he is talking about. Is there anything he can do?
