What does New York impose .. .?

Technically, tariffs are only imposed by the Federal Government. Taxes are another matter. There are thousands of taxes in New york imposed on everthing from water to electricity to phones to cigarettes to beer to taxi rides to hotels to movies.. and on and on. New York is the only state that taxes telephone poles. Basically if it moves or breathes, or provides any comfort to you, they tax it.
