Disneyland (Anaheim) and Universal Studios Hollywood Tips and Tricks?

My best friend and I are going on a trip in August with 5 days in Disneyland and 1 day in Universal Studios. I wanted to know any and all tips for the parks (I've gone to both before but not in years), what rides should we hit earlier in the day, are there any rides that we should definitely not wait in long lines for. etc. Literally if you have any tips at all it will be appreciated.
